Bettendorf Iowa is a great place to live and work. Bettendorf is home to the Davenport Works of ALCOA and several other small manufacturing centers. There is a long history of manufacturing including the invention of the electric bread slicer and a design of freight train car wheel assemblies still used on rail cars today! Bettendorf has several parks, some with baseball diamonds, skate board ramps, one with a municipal swimming pool/water park and even a band shell! The bike trails link parks, the Mississippi River front and communities you can ride away the day. Why not take a water taxi and ride all of the Quad City Bike Paths! Bettendorf sports a July 4th Parade, several summer concerts and offers boating access to the Mississippi from a ramp at Leach Park. Remember when in Bettendorf that the Mississippi River tends to flow East to West! A newly constructed convention center is drawing conventions to the downtown area which is getting a major emphasis on revitalization. Bettendorf has two public school systems (Bettendorf and Pleasant Valley) and several private schools, churches of just about all denominations and you will be within about 20 minutes of any Quad City Area destination including the Quad City International Airport. Bettendorf is growing as evident by construction of a new elementary school and homes in several new subdivisions with room to grow! http://www.bettendorf.k12.ia.us/ Bettendorf Community School District http://www.pleasval.12.ia.us/ Pleasant Valley Community School District |
